1) TSUNAMI FIRST AID: THE MATRIX IDEA

The principle of this conceptual project comes from the challenge of making the smallest number of base modules and put together as many pieces as possible, reaching the highest results while using different variables. For this, the following guidelines were used:
a- maximum flexibility allowing to reach a high variation in housing units, responding highly to the demands of such.
b- maximum transportable dimensions - choosing to use the dimensions of a container allowing it to be slim as well as allowing better agility in the transportation and reunification of pieces on site.
c- later successive possibility of uniting the up brought single units to each other, consisting of more typological aggregation such as towers, plots, balconies, linear (and other infinite solutions) until reaching the idea of an entire city, starting from those few base modules.
The idea is in fact brought as a first aid verisimilar mechanism for an eventual natural calamity, uniting the practicity of transportation as well as the grouping of pieces. At the same time there is the duality of aggregative possibilities, the décor of composition and housing comfort. It has also been tried the minimal aggregation possible as true family logging which can be personified due to taste and personal demands (following the “Smart” concept) through a series of options and choices in details to obtain and maintain a unitary composition, the precise criteria of modularity.


2) FIVE EASY PIECES: NOTES ON THE PROJECT

A) SUBUNIT OF TRANSPORTATION
Once established the modular dimensions (already chosen as a maximum unit the container unit of 6,10m X 2,44m X 2,44m) the work done was on studying the minimal number of different modules but with such characteristics that allowed a probable infinite possibility in dimension and habitational sizes after aggregated.
The final results were three TMU (Transportable Maximum Unity), intelligent modules built up of a structural skeleton and a system of covering and internal midlevels with fixed partitions; in addition of other two modules with the same dimensions and characteristics joining the habitational units built; one is a vertical junction (stairs and lifts) while the other is a horizontal junction (terraces and balconies).
The fixed covering follows a rigid modularity but never complete the shell, always allowing the partitions free to be chosen by the user’s demands and taste, which can be chosen through a series of modular projects with dimension of 0,8x2 m as a choice of completion.
Such options can be a simple material choice of opaque (long wood, aluminium, u-glass covered with opaque panels) semi-opaque (u-glass) or transparent (glass); but also functional (entrance door, covering, bathroom, internal sponging) and again the exposition of an obscuring carter.
This simple mechanism of image patchwork of optional tipologies (which comes from a number of factors due to each input introduced) bring up the possibility of introducing a software to manage in the fastest and most efficient way.


B) SINGLE UNIT OF AGGREGATION AND GROUPING TYPOLOGY

The flexibility studied in the three modules after completed, grouped and enriched with the possibility of choice of details and partitions allows practically an infinite number of house measurements, arrangements, dimensions and final image, in response to the demands of use of diverse cultures. But under any effect it remains a family logging and will remain such even without the introduction of the other two pieces (balcony/terrace and vertical adjunction) which allow the city effect through the aggregation of units under various typologies: vertical, linear…with final results that may be conventional and at the same time the most fantasising possible, fulfilling the demands of genius loci and the culture where it will be introduced, and at times, deny.
Also in this case, the introduction and study of a management software of unlimited grouping possibilities will hopefully make the projectual phase more articulated and interesting.


3) I HAD A DREAM: A CONCLUSION

At this point nothing forbids to close your eyes and dream of an infinite serpent that moves wherever is needed, moving an entire city according to human choice, ungrouped in either small/big pieces in the dimension of a container.
